The trigger one of the facts

The war of Afghanistan started ten years ago as result of the consternation caused by the terrorist attacks against the Twin Towers of New York. The American citizens and the president of this country understood that their rights have been violated and therefore they could use the violence to defend the honour of the American country.

USA wants to be free

The United States wanted to get that the terrorist paid for the crime that they had committed, so the chase and the capture of Osama Bin Laden because the principal objective of the war.

Military strategies

The American Government based its defence in two operations of different nature. The first one is known as “Herrick Operation” Whilst the second one was called “Operation of Lasting Freedom”.

The first one was carried out by the British troops in order to invade and to occupy the Asiatic Country, and the second one was carried out nowadays by the American army in co-operation with the soldiers of a lot of European countries as well as some soldiers who belong to the Colombian army.

The main aim of this last operation is to guarantee the safety of Kabul and its surroundings. In 2003, the NATO took the control of the first operation because its obligation consists on defending the innocents from the criminals’ actions.

The real origin of the war

But the origin of the Afghanistan can be found in 1996 when an Islamic movement conquered the 90 per cent of the Afghanistan territory.

In the same year Bin Laden and his organisation Al Qaeda started to use this country as a base of operations. So in this territory Al Qaeda could train its men to finish with the American Dream.                  

Bill Clinton tried to capture Bin Laden due to this effort for transforming Afghanistan in an ideal place to traffic with drugs and to develop criminal and terrorist activities.

Obama intervenes

Besides, Obama tried to carry out important attacks against the USA embassy in 1998, although he was the main target of EEUU since 1990.

After a lot of battles The American government discovered that the principal fugitives of Al Qaeda were hidden in the subterranean Complex of Tora Bora, but when they initiated the offensive it was later because Bin Laden had escaped.

Kabul was conquered by the troops of the NATO, although in 2009, the Taliban movement committed the most violent attacks that killed not only foreign soldiers but also a lot of innocent people, such as: men, women, families and their children…

Nowadays, if it is true that the war hasn’t finish yet it’s possible to talk of a huge victory with the death of Bin Laden. In spite of this, the World Islamic movements are a big threat for the developed countries.
